Brown Dutch Beans grow on a bush-type bean plant that grows 12 inches (30 cm) to 20 inches (½ metre) tall, and doesn’t need staking.
It produces white flowers, then pods 3 ½ inches (9 cm) long and ⅓ inch (75 mm) wide. There are an average of 32 pods per bush, and 4 beans per pod; 80 to 110 days from seed, depending on where you are.
Brown Dutch Beans are oval-shaped and plump, with a brownish yellow caramel coloured skin.
They retain their colour when cooked.
Possibly the same bean as Swedish Brown Beans.
