Delizia Tomatoes have ridges in them, making their shape reminiscent of small pumpkins.
They are best eaten when still a bit green — when they are red at the base, fading to green about half-way up the sides, with some red in the ridges, and the flesh inside is green.
The taste is sweet.
The plant does best in sandy soil.
For the European market, they are grown in Sicily.
They are available January to April, making them the first tomato of the supermarket year.
