Dushanbe Garlic bulbs have pale red stripes on them.
Inside, there are 8 to 12 large, plump cloves per bulb, with pinkish-brown or bronzey skin on them.
The cloves are easy to separate and peel.
The garlic has a rich, smooth taste that is hot on the tip of your tongue.
It is ready to harvest earlier than many other garlics.
Dushanbe belongs to the Turban sub-group of the Artichoke group of garlics, itself a subgroup of softneck garlics.
