History Notes
Jonwin Apples were developed by Albert Etter in Humboldt County, California, USA, and registered with American plant patent number #710.
Etter recorded that it came from a cross between Jonathan and Baldwin apples, though some question this, as Baldwin trees are not often good pollen sources.
The apple was promoted by the Oregon State Experiment Station for commercial use, but did not catch on.
