Nui Blueberries

Nui are firm, light-blue coloured blueberries. They are three times the size of other blueberries, almost the size of a grape, about 3/4 inch (16 to 20 mm) wide.

The bush takes a while to establish itself. It will spread, but still be a relatively compact plant. The fruit tends to grow inside the bush.

Nui Blueberries are grown in New Zealand.

Storage Hints

Nui Blueberries have a very good shelf life.

History Notes

Nui Blueberries were developed from a cross between Bluecrop blueberries and a blueberry referred to as "E118" by the Ruakura Research Centre in New Zealand. There were released in 1985.

Language Notes

"Nui" means "big" in Maori.
