Oulton Tea Biscuits Recipe

These baking-powder risen biscuits can be savoury or sweet. They are somewhat like English scones.

Number of servings: Makes 10

Estimated Prep Time: 10 minutes

Estimated Cooking Time: 12 minutes Cooking at: 375 F / 190 C / Gas Mark 5



Combine flour, baking powder & salt (& sugar if desired) in bowl. Cut in butter. Mix in milk until you have a soft dough.

Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cooking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden colour. Makes about 10 biscuits.

Recipe notes

You can use margarine in place of butter; skim or low-fat milk in place of milk.

Having saved on all this fat, you could then add the cheese for a treat.
