They have yellow skin covered with a blush that ranges from orangish-red to very red.
Inside, they have coarse, crisp, somewhat juicy flesh (though it can occasionally be a bit dry.) The flesh has a mildly tart, pear flavour.
The tree starts bearing fruit when young. The fruit ripens mid-September.
Cooking Tips
For fresh-eating. Also okay for pies and sauce and cider.
Flesh turns brown quickly when cut.

Stores for up to 2 months.
History Notes
Red Baron Apples were developed from a cross between Golden Delicious and Daniels Red Duchess done at the University of Minnesota in 1969.
