Vermont Cranberry Beans are good as a shelled bean as well as a dried bean.
They are 60 to 110 days from seed, depending on where you live, and at what stage you want to harvest.
The pods are green with bright red mottling and grow on a bush that grows 12 inches (30 cm) high.
Shelled fresh Vermont Cranberry Beans are pink, with bright red speckles and streaks but the colour fades when dried.
The pods are 4 ½ inches (11 cm) to 6 inches (15 cm) long. The plump beans are ½ inch (1 cm) by ⅓ inch (75 mm) wide.
History Notes
