They will have a small, dry scar after picking.
The bush grows quickly and spreads somewhat. It needs 150 to 200 hours of cold winter weather and tolerates hot weather.
The bush needs to be cross-pollinated. It also needs pruning or it will over-produce, causing the plant growth problems.
Misty Blueberries ripen over a long period, starting with an early harvest, and needing 3 to 5 subsequent pickings. It can be mechanically harvested.
Producers like the berries, but are looking (as of 2005) for some alternatives, owing to all the pruning maintenance required.
Misty Blueberries are now being grown in New Zealand.
