Treccia cheese is a braided version of mozzarella or scamorza cheese.
It is pale yellow, and soft and stringy.
The cheese can weigh up to 2 ¼ pounds (1 kg) or more.
Generally, the cheese is made of cow’s milk. Treccione di Bufala indicates a big version of the cheese, and that the cheese was made from buffalo milk.
There are also smoked versions of Treccia cheese that have a mild smoky taste.
Cooking Tips
Treccia cheese is good raw or grilled.
