Kosher Rye Bread Recipe
The bread machine does 95% of the work for you in this Rye Bread recipe. Cooking at: 230 C / 450 F / Gas Mark 8
Cooking Temperature 230 C / 450 F / Gas Mark 8
Place all ingredients in machine in order listed above. Start dough cycle only.
When dough cycle has finished, remove dough and punch down. Place covered either in oiled bread pan or cooking surface, and let rise for about an hour.
Heat oven to 230 C / 450 F / Gas Mark 8.
Bake in heated oven for 15 minutes, then lower temperature to 350 F / 175 C and cook for another 30 minutes.
The inital higher heat is for bread spring.
Optional: 1 tbsp caraway seeds 4 tablespoons chopped uncooked onion
Optional: some say spritzing the walls of the oven twice with water before putting bread in will produce a more crusty loaf.
Optional: a dash or two of Kitchen Bouquet to the water will help to make the bread look browner.
