Combine flour, baking powder & salt (& sugar if desired) in bowl. Cut in butter. Mix in milk until you have a soft dough.
Start oven heating to 190 C / 375 F / Gas Mark 5.
Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cooking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden colour. Makes about 10 biscuits.
Notes
You can use margarine in place of butter; skim or low-fat milk in place of milk. Having saved on all this fat, you could then add the cheese for a treat.
