Flame Grapes are a medium-sized, seedless table grape with a sweet, slightly-tart flavour.

There are two varieties: Flame, which is oval, purplish-red and firm; and Red Flame, which is red and round.

A prolific producer, the Flame vine was developed by the Fresno breeding programme in California as a cross between the Flame Tokay and Thompson seedless.

It was introduced in the 1970s, and is now the second most popular grape in America (as of 2004.)
