Goldrush Apple

Goldrush Apples are medium-sized apples. The thin, tender skin is greenish-bronzey yellow at harvest, turning deeper yellow during storage. Sometimes the skin will have a red blush on the side exposed to the sun, and sometimes it will develop russeting.

Inside, the coarse-grained flesh is a pale cream colour, and firm and crisp. Despite its high sugar content, it has a tartness that will mellow in storage. The flavour is also somewhat spicy.

Ready for harvesting late.

Cooking Tips

Can be used for cooking or fresh-eating.

History Notes

Developed by the PRI (Purdue/Rutgers/Illinois) apple breeding programme. Development started in 1980, released in 1992. The apple is a result of a cross between Golden Delicious and Co-op 17 Apple. The tree was developed to be disease resistant. During development, it was called the “Co-op 38” apple.
