Hidatsa Shield Figure Beans

Hidatsa Shield Figure Beans grow on a bush-type plant with some runners, so some people describe it as a pole bean.

The plant produces white flowers, and then pods about 4 inches (10 cm) long x ½ inch (1 cm) long. There will be about 20 pods per plant.

The pod turn reddish as they mature and dry.

Hidatsa Shield Figure Beans are oval-shaped. One side of them is white; the other side is tan and highly decorated with markings which some describe as a figure with a shield.

It is grown primarily for beans which are dried. 90 days from seed.
