Horse Mint grows up to 2 feet (60 cm) tall.
It has pointed thin greyish-green leaves. On their underneaths, they have fine white fuzz.
The plant produces light purple flowering spikes.
It has a spearmint aroma, and a sharp, slightly bitter taste.An American variety, “Spotted Horsemint” (Monarda punctata), grows 3 to 4 feet (1 – 1.2 metres) tall. It has more of an oregano taste and scent than mint.
