The 20th of July is Lollipop Day.

What do you call a lollipop? A lollipop, a lolly, a sucker, or something else?

When is the last time you had a lollipop? Have you tried any recent artisan flavours such as caffe latte, cotton candy, pina colada, mango chile, or mint chocolate chip?

Some places may give out free lollipops today. If you see lollipops being handed out for free, do you accept one, or decline?

When you were a child, what were your favourite three flavours?

Activities for today

• bring a bagful of lollipops into the office and set them at the desk or in the lunchroom;
• if you work in a store, have the store give them out free to customers;
• treat yourself or your beau to a giant-sized lollipop.

History

The first print mention of a Lollipop Day in July that CooksInfo is aware of dates from 2004 in Wisconsin:

“Today is: National Lollipop Day.” — Manitowoc, Wisconsin: Manitowoc Herald-Times. Tuesday, 20 July 2004. Page C8, col. 1.

It also appeared on the same date in a string of what to appear to be related newspapers in the same media stable.
