Niitaka Pears

Very large fruit that has orangey-brown skin with brown russeting. The off-white flesh is sweet and juicy, but a bit coarser than other Asian Pears, which some people like, feeling that it makes a bit more of a filling snack.

The Niitaka tree is pollinated by either Shinseiki or Olympic pear trees, but it cannot cross-pollinate other pear trees, as its own pollen is sterile.
