Utility knife

Utility knife. pixnio.com / Public Domain

A utility knife, in culinary terms, is a larger version of a paring knife.

It is mid-way in size between a paring knife and a chef’s knife, about 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) long, and narrow.

The blade can be flat-edged or serrated.

The knife is useful for slicing and deboning.
