Inside, they have firm, crisp, juicy flesh with a sweet taste.
The fruit ripens from October to November, depending upon locale. They are best harvested after the first frost.
All-purpose apples. Particularly good for cooking.
Stores well. Will ripen in storage.
Waltana Apples were developed by Albert Etter in Humboldt County, California, USA, possibly from a cross between Manx Codlin apples and a Wagener seedling.
The apple is named for Etter’s brother Walter (1882 -1946) and Etter’s sister in law, Ana.
