Shishigatani Squash is perhaps described as “bottle-shaped” for lack of a better comparison. It is oblong, with a dark, greenish-blue rind, ripening to tan coloured. The rind is heavily ribbed, and very warty.
Inside, it has finely-textured pale yellow flesh with a rich flavour.
The squash grows to be 8 inches (20 cm) tall, and weigh 6 pounds (2 ¾ kg.)
110 days from seed.
Very popular in Kyoto, Japan.
