Alpha are large, round, sometimes oval potatoes with smooth yellow skin and pale yellow flesh
They are a floury potato for use as a table potato by consumers.
Late-season harvest.
They are grown in Egypt & Sudan (from seed potatoes imported from Holland), in Canada, and in Mexico.
History Notes
Alpha Potatoes were developed by a Prof. Ir. J.C. Dorst in Wageningen, Netherlands in 1919 from a cross between Paul Kruger x Preferent potatoes. Released 1925.
