Banana Potatoes (1)

Banana Potatoes have yellow skin and yellow, waxy flesh with good flavour.

They are longish. Some describe the shape as “banana-shaped”, but it must have been a while since they’ve seen a banana.

There will be 15 to 20 potatoes per plant.

It is listed separately in some catalogues from Russian Banana Potato; in other catalogues, it is implied that they are the same.

Cooking Tips

Good as a salad potato, and good as a boiled potato.

History Notes

Banana Potatoes have been grown in British Columbia, Canada since at least the early 1900s. They may have originated in the Baltics, and been brought over by Russian traders.
