Baskets have been an important part of food gathering, transportation and storage since time immemorial.

Originally now made just of plant material or animal skins, they can now also be made of plastic, metal or ceramics.

Bannetons

Bannetons

A banneton is a basket in which free-formed bread is put to rise. The purpose is to shape the dough, and to let some moisture leave the surface of the dough.
Grilling Basket

Grilling Basket

A grilling basket is a wire basket. It is used to hold food while cooking on a grill. A grilling basket can be used for vegetables, seafood or small pieces of meat.
Punnet

Punnet

A punnet is a small, low basket for soft fruit or vegetables, meant both to keep the items together, and to protect the items in it during shipping and retailing.
Salad Spinner

Salad Spinner

A salad spinner is a kitchen tool for removing excess water from washed salad greens. It uses centrifugal force to drive water off salad greens. It is a much faster and thorough method than doing it by hand with paper or tea towels.
