Chauri is a word used in the Himalayas to describe a cross between a Yak and a cow.
The males born are sterile, and are usually castrated and used as a work animal.
A female chauri will give more milk than a Dri (a female Yak), but cost almost a third more to buy, and are more expensive to feed than a Dri.
