Chirimen Squash

Chirimen Squash are flattened, with deep ridges in the rind, but the rind is so rough and warty that the ridges are almost swollen under. The colours on the rind are blue, green and yellow.

Inside, they have yellow, moist flesh.

They will be 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) wide.

100 days from seed.

Cooking Tips

Wash well before cutting into it, because the uneven rind can act as a favourite home to mealybugs.

History Notes

Chirimen Squash was developed in Japan.
