The 13th of March is Coconut Torte Day.
Coconut torte is a fancy word for “coconut cake”, but then torte in English does generally imply a fancy cake.
A coconut cake can have flavouring in the cake itself, or the frosting, or both, and optionally also be decorated with flakes of coconut.
You may wish to make a coconut cake today, and share it with family, friends or coworkers. You could include tastes of chocolate, almond, vanilla, raspberries, and maybe sneak a bit of rum into the frosting or filling.
And don’t apologize if you have to cheat and use a cake mix: there’s a reason people use cakes mixes, which is that they actually turn out pretty darn good cakes that are very hard to reproduce at home otherwise.
If you don’t have time to bake a cake, you could buy one at a store, or even better, support your local bakery.
You could also just enjoy a slice of coconut cake with a friend at a coffee shop.
