History Notes
Dixie Red Delight Apples were developed by a man named Oren T. Bolding in Sylacauga, Alabama. He patented it in 1960 (US Plant Patent No. 1974) and sold the rights to the H.G. Hastings Nursery in Atlanta, Georgia. They in turn licenced the rights to the Commercial Nursery Company of Dechard, Tennessee.
The apple was popular in the American South in the first half of the 1900s.
