French Red Garlic has medium-sized, white-skinned bulbs with an average of 8 large cloves in them.
The cloves have pale tan-coloured skin that is purple at the bottom. They have full flavour without being sharp.
It is harvested at the end of the growing season.
The garlic belongs to the Rocambole sub-group of hardneck garlics.
An off-shoot is French Red Asian garlic which when raw has a hotter taste.
