They have smooth, thin, pale green, waxy skin that ripens to a deep yellow with some russet dots and flecks on it.
Inside, the pale yellow flesh is juicy, soft, tender and finely-textured, with a mild, tart taste.
The fruit ripens in September.

Hawley Apples originated sometime around 1750 in New Canaan, New York State, USA on the farm of a Matthew Hawley, being raised from seed brought from Milford, Connecticut.
