Hopi Black Pinto Beans are not actually black pinto beans.
Instead, they are pinto beans that are pinky-beige or beige with black speckles.
Occasionally, there will be a bean that is mostly black.
The plant gives high yields.
Hopi Black Pinto Beans were obtained in 1984 from the garden of a Lucy Tenakhongua on the Hopi Reservation in Hotevilla, Arizona, US.
Called “Maawiw’ ngwu” in Hopi.
