Overberg Ducks are raised both for their eggs and their meat.
Males grow to 5 to 5.5 pounds (2.25 to 2.50 kg); females to 4.5 to 5 pounds (2 to 2.25 kg.)
Females will lay 180 to 200 white-shelled eggs per year, with each egg averaging 65g in weight.
The birds rarely fly; they walk around carrying themselves somewhat vertically.
History Notes
Overberg Ducks were developed in the Netherlands at the start of the 1900s from Hook Bills, Abacot Rangers and Welsh Harlequins.
