Slovenska Golica Pumpkin is a pumpkin grown for its hull-less, dark green seeds, which are pressed into pumpkin oil.
The pumpkins are round, and orangey-yellow in colour with green mottled stripes.
The orange pumpkin flesh itself is pretty tasteless and not worth eating, but it can be fed to livestock, etc.
There is a semi-hollow cavity in the middle with many seeds.
The roasted seeds are also good as a snack seed.
The plant is a vining-type pumpkin, with long stalks and large, uneven leaves and yellow flowers.
History Notes
Slovenska Golica Pumpkin was developed at Jurovski Dol in Slovenia.
Language Notes
“Oil pumpkin” in Slovenian is “oljna buča.”
