State Fair Apples

State Fair are medium-sized appes, up to 3 inches (7 ½ cm) wide. They will be round to conical in shape.

They have yellow skin 90% covered with bright reddish-orange flushes.

Inside, they have firm, juicy off-white flesh which is aromatic, with a sweet taste with balancing tartness.

The fruit ripens all at the same time early-August to September in Minnesota.

The tree is cold hardy, down to -40 F (-40 C.)

Cooking Tips

For fresh-eating; also okay for cooking.

Storage Hints

Stores reasonably well for an early ripener; up to 1 month.

History Notes

State Fair Apples were developed from a cross done at the University of Minnesota between Mantet and Oriole apples done in Minnesota, USA.

Released in 1979.
