À la jardinière is a French cooking expression that means literally “in the manner of the gardener’s wife.”
It means the dish is accompanied with “garden vegetables.”
This means normally simple, everyday vegetables such as carrots, green beans, onions and turnips, but often focusses on what is in season.
The vegetables can be cooked in any fashion, even grilled.
