Avon Potatoes

Avon are oblong potatoes with smooth, buff skin and white flesh.

The potato is about 3 ½ inches (8.5 cm) long, 3 inches (7.5 cm) wide, 2 ½ inches (5 cm) tall.

It was designed for all-purpose table use.

It is not in production anymore.

History Notes

Avon Potatoes were developed by Agriculture Canada in New Brunswick from a cross between two potatoes referred to as F1464-26 and USDA X96-56. During development, was referred to as “F4713.” Released 1958.
