Brigus Potatoes

Brigus are oval potatoes with smooth purple skin, and pale yellow flesh.

They are meant for sale directly to consumers.

As is common with purple-skinned potatoes, these are waxy potatoes.

Stores well.

History Notes

Brigus Potatoes were developed by Belfast, Ireland native Kenneth G. Proudfoot for Agriculture Canada at its St. John’s West Research Station in Newfoundland from a cross between two potatoes referred to as “G64-124-5p” and “SJ62-26-14” in 1971. Released 1983.
