Burrito Day is the first Thursday of April.
Who doesn’t love a burrito? A burrito is a great meal to eat on the go, or to bring home to eat if you don’t want to dirty any dishes. You can even buy frozen burritos at the grocery store to heat up at home.
Activities for today
- look for deals, special offers, contests — some deals may require you to sign up through an app;
- have a breakfast, lunch and dinner burrito at different places today;
- have friends over for a party, so up a burrito bar so they can make up their own (tip! do some of the prep a day or two in advance).

The first print reference to National Burrito Day that CooksInfo has found in archives of 35,000 newspapers, as of 2021, occurs in 2017. It places the day on the 6th of June:

In 2018, a print reference appears to the first Thursday in April:

In 2019, a fast-food chain called “El Pollo Loco” in California offered free burritos for the day:
“A free burrito is available at fast-food chain El Pollo Loco on National Burrito Day, Thursday, April 4.
