Cabaret Potatoes

Cabaret Potatoes are oblong potatoes with white skin and off-white flesh.

They are floury potatoes particularly good for baking and roasting.

They are also being used with success in the UK for chips (aka French Fries in America.)

Early harvest.

History Notes

Cabaret Potatoes were developed in 2001 from a cross between Maris Piper and Morag strains by Cygnet Potato Breeders of Perthshire, Scotland.

The company ran into trouble in early 2005 with an advertisement they ran. The advertisement drew a link between the potatoes and the movie “Cabaret.” Liza Minnelli, who was the star of that film, disapproved of their using an image of her with chips (French Fries) instead of legs without permission.
