Cara Potatoes are medium-sized, round to oval potatoes with smooth, white skin and off-white flesh.
They have a somewhat sweet, mild flavour.
They are marketed as all-purpose, said to be good both for boiling and mashing.
The plant delivers high yields in a late harvest.
History Notes
Cara Potatoes were developed by Teagasc (The Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority) at Oak Park Research Centre in Carlow, Ireland from a cross between Ulster Glade potatoes and a potato referred to as “3070d3.”
