Cherokee Potatoes

Cherokee are round, somewhat flattened potatoes with somewhat flaky, yellow skin and white flesh.

They are marketed as all-purpose for direct to consumer sales.

History Notes

Cherokee Potatoes were developed in 1941 by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Maine from a cross between potatoes referred to as “USDA X96-56” and “USDA X528-170.”

Released 1953.
