The 19th of July is Daiquiri Day.
This day celebrates the classic Cuban cocktail known as a daiquiri, made from rum, a touch of sugar, and a citrus juice (typically lime or lemon), shaken with cracked or shaved ice.
There’s also a frozen version which emerged over the years and has become very popular, which is more like a slush.
Which do you prefer, the classic version or the frozen? If you’ve only had frozen daiquiris, you may wish to try the classic version today, as it also has far less sugar.
Do you prefer the citrus juice to be lime, or lemon? Can you taste the difference if the citrus juice is not fresh, but bottled instead, or if the drink has been made from a mix?
Do you like a variation, such as frozen strawberry or frozen pineapple daiquiris?
Today could be a good excuse to treat yourself to a cocktail shaker, if you don’t have one already.
