Early Cheyenne Pie Pumpkins are small.

They were developed, as the name indicates, to be ready to harvest early in the season, and for use in pies.

Small size in pumpkins often indicates better flavour.

History Notes

Early Cheyenne Pie Pumpkins were developed by the USDA’s Cheyenne Horticultural Field Station in Cheyenne, Wyoming from offspring from New England Pie Pumpkins.

Released 1939.

‘Another novelty is the tea-party, an extraordinary meal in that, being offered to persons that have already dined well, it supposes neither appetite nor thirst, and has no object but distraction, no basis but delicate enjoyment.’ — Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (French food writer. 1 April 1755 – 2 February 1826)
