Excel Potatoes are oblong with red skin.

They are no longer grown and are possibly extinct.

They were meant for direct sale to consumers as an all-purpose potato.

History Notes

Excel Potatoes were developed at the University of Nebraska from a cross between two potatoes referred to as “Nebraska 143.47-16” and “Nebraska 59.41-P1”.

Released 1957.
