German Butterball are medium-sized, oblong potatoes. They have tan skin with some russetting, and deep yellow flesh with a rich, buttery flavour and a very good, old-fashioned potato taste.
They are marketed as all-purpose for direct to consumer sales, but are better regarded as a waxy potato for serving as a boiled potato.
They hold their shape well when cooked.
They are a good royalty-free substitute for Yukon Gold Potatoes.
