Horseradish Powder

Horseradish powder is a whitish powder with a hot, sharp taste.

It is made made from horseradish roots that are cleaned and dried, then ground into a powder that is used as a spice.

It is usually used in sauces and other items that aren’t cooked, as cooking can inactivate the heat.

It is used a lot commercially.

Cooking Tips

To make horseradish sauces at home, add some horseradish powder to mayonnaise, sour cream or crème fraiche.

Add a bit of horseradish powder to coleslaws, tomato juice-based drinks, meat loaves, etc, to give them a bit of kick.
