Konbu-Cha Tea

Konbu-Cha Tea is tea made from seaweed, either from whole kombu (aka konbu) seaweed, or powdered seaweed available in stores.

It has a salty taste.

Sometimes shiso leaves are added to the mix.

You can also use it as a broth for soup.

Cooking Tips

To make from scratch, simmer a piece of kombu seaweed in 1 litre / 1 quart / 4 cups of water for 15 minutes.

Serve with a small piece of kombu seaweed at the bottom of the cup.

Language Notes

Sometimes spellt “Kombucha” but kombucha has come to mean when used by English speakers a fermented tea.
