Menudo Mix

A spice and herb mix sometimes kept on hand for seasoning menudo while cooking it.

You can buy it or make your own.

The mix uses all dry ingredients as they’re generally meant to be stored to be kept on hand, ready to use.

There are both elaborate and simple renditions of Menudo Mix.

Cooking Tips

Simple
2 parts oregano
2 parts onion flakes
1 part coriander seed
1 part ground cumin
1 part chile flakes

Elaborate
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder or flakes
1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
½ teaspoon basil
½ teaspoon thyme or rosemary
½ teaspoon chopped dried orange peel (optional)
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon dry powdered mustard
½ teaspoon oregano
½ teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon cumin seed

Storage Hints

Store in a sealed container.
