Metechi Purple Stripe Garlic has very large bulbs. Their thick white skin has purple splodges on it, and gets more purple as you peel towards the inside layers.
In each bulb will be 4 to 7 fat, firm cloves with thick, tight brown skin marbled with purple. The cloves have pointed tips.
The garlic has a hot taste, and an aftertaste that lasts. The flavour stands up well in cooking.
It belongs to the Purple Stripe sub-group of hardneck garlic.
Late harvest.
