These round pears have orangey-brown skin with brown russeting. Inside, the flesh is white, with a bit of an earthy flavour that is very sweet: the fruit is 17% sugar.
Olympic are a new variety from Korea. The trees can be pollinated by Hosui, Shinseiki, even Bartlett pear trees, and hold promise for Western farmers not only because of their appeal on shop stands, but because they also resist fruit tree fireblight very well.
